May was a fundamentally positive month for Italian casinos, four casinos achieved positive results in last month’s operations, while only one couldn’t reach the expected numbers.
Four of five casino hosts in Italy reported positive results during May’s operations. Campione d’Italia, the town on the south shore of Lake Lugano, was the only casino that didn’t achieve the expected results during last month’s operations.
The Gioco report shows that Casino di Sanremo on the Italian Riviera was the most profitable venue last month, as the operator achieved a total of €3.4 million in May. Last month’s results are 11.04 per cent higher than the same period last year.
Slots scored the highest revenue, with a 12.38 per cent increase to €2.7 million, while table games also reported largely positive signs: fair roulette rose to €14k, a 625 per cent increase. French roulette had a lower percentage hike but experienced higher absolute volumes to €388k and a 14.41 per cent rise.
Although, Casino Campione d’Italia is struggling due to its file for bankruptcy from the Como Public Prosecutor’s Office, a complicated situation that has only brought good news with the negotiations results between the company and trade unions on the reduction of labour cost, without using the 156 collective redundancies that were initially announced by the management company. So, it was the only venue that didn’t report growth.
