Latvia Introduces Responsible Gambling ProgramReading Time: < 1 minute

Latvia has launched a responsible gambling initiative beginning from the New Year that offers the players an option to self-exclude themselves from gaming operations.

After the Latvian government approving the self-exclusion program, it came into force January 1. players can ban themselves from both online and land-based gaming operations for one year.

“The purpose of the register of self-denied persons is to protect the public interest and the right of natural persons to refrain from excessive gambling activities, including interactive gambling, or participation in interactive lotteries,” the Lottery and Gambling Supervisory Authority (IAUI) said. The exclusion applies to participation in all statutory gambling and interactive lotteries.”

The IAUI stated that 125 people requested state-funded support for problems related to their gambling addiction last year. It is one of the reasons behind the launch of this program, for promoting Latvia as a responsible gambling market.

After starting out as an affiliate in 2009 and developing some recognized review portals, I have moved deeper into journalism and media. My experience has lead me to move into the B2B sector and write about compliance updates and report around the happenings of the online and land based gaming sector.
