BETDAQ celebrates Punchestown Festival sponsorshipReading Time: 2 minutes

Tuesday 24 April, 2018 – BETDAQ has agreed a one-year extension to its sponsorship at Punchestown Festival, Ireland’s major international horse racing event.

As one of the main sponsors of the 2018 event, which begins today, BETDAQ will raise money for Irish Injured jockeys at the County Kildare course this week as it stages the next stage of its #ChangingForTheBettor campaign.

Racegoers can visit the pop-up ‘honesty bar’, located by the parade ring, in the main enclosure, where patrons will be served a bespoke BETDAQ cocktail and invited to pay what they feel it’s worth, with takings going to the jockeys’ welfare charity.

Shane McLaughlin, Managing Director, BETDAQ said: “We are very pleased to have extended our relationship with Punchestown and, as one of the main partners, we wanted to use our sponsorship to highlight the fantastic work of Irish Injured Jockeys.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of thirsty punters at the Festival and we look forward to welcoming them to the BETDAQ honesty bar and raising money for an exceptional cause.”

The betting exchange, title sponsor of the BETDAQ 2% Commission Champion Hurdle at the prestigious festival, will also bring its gold saddle cloth initiative to the home of Irish jumps racing, as it continues to mark the introduction of its flat-rate commission.

Three months into the new 2% fee structure, BETDAQ has increased first time depositors by 50% and platinum customers by 25%.

In Friday’s highlight race, horse number two will wear a gold saddle cloth, and earn its groom a bonus £2,000 prize if it goes on to win.

The promotion was previously run at Kempton in February, where the number-two wearing Redicean, from Alan King’s yard, landed the BETDAQ #ChangingForTheBettor Adonis Juvenile Hurdle.

“Grooms are often the unsung heroes of racing and we were delighted to be able to give the £2,000 bonus at Kempton. Hopefully we’ll be getting the chequebook out again at Punchestown,” said McLaughlin.

Janet Creighton, Punchestown Sales and Sponsorship Manager, commented: “We are delighted to welcome the BETDAQ sponsorship renewal news today. They have been wonderful title sponsors for the last three years.

The honesty bar and gold saddle cloth concepts are exactly the reason why we love working with a dynamic company like BETDAQ. They are giving back through fun and interactive ways. We wish them the best of luck with their Irish Injured Jockeys fundraiser and indeed as future sponsors of the BETDAQ 2% Commission Champion Hurdle”.

In addition to its sponsorship of the Punchestown Champion Hurdle, BETDAQ is principal partner of Charlton Athletic Football Club, and includes the Racing Blogger and Tony Cascarino among its ambassadors.
